My partner is sick/stuck in a meeting/stuck in traffic/etc.
Should I cancel my lesson?
You should definitely take advantage of the private lesson. Since leading and following are equally important and challenging, you (and your partner) will ultimately benefit from the personalized focus on your role. If you cancel your lesson with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full price of the lesson.
I have a 5-Private Lesson Package, but will not be able to use it.
Can I get a refund?
If you have purchased a 5-lesson package and would like to cancel the remaining lessons on the package, you may be eligible for a partial refund due to pro-longed illness, injury or out of area move. Your refund will be calculated by taking the purchase price less the individual cost of lessons already taken*, less a $15 change fee.
For instance, if you purchase a 5-lesson package for $275 and complete 3 of the lessons, the credit issued will be calculated as follows: $275 – ($60 x 3) – $15 = $80
(*Cancellation policy calculations apply).
What should I wear to my Private Lesson?
Be comfy! There is no dress code at Big City Swing. We suggest wearing looser, breathable clothes that are comfortable. Avoid sleeveless shirts. You do not need special dance shoes, but you do not want to stick to the floor. Avoid shoes with heavy treads or flip flops. Do wear leather, suede or smooth soled shoes.
Is there Parking Available at the Studio?
Yes! We have a dedicated parking area right out front. There is also ample parking on most side streets in the neighborhood. If you are arriving for a lesson before 3pm or after 8pm, we suggest arriving 15-20 minutes early to find a parking spot.
What’s a Senior Instructor?
Big City Swing currently offers private lessons with 3 senior instructors. These seasoned professionals have been teaching Swing Dance for at least 7 years, and include the founder of the company, Julee Mertz. Our regular instructors are also amazing, but have a little less experience. Both categories of instructors will give you a fabulous learning experience, but more advanced dancers may prefer to work with our more advanced instructors!
The weather is terrible! Are you still open? Can I cancel my lesson without penalty?
Big City Swing will always be open! We only close in the event that the governor issues a state of emergency (which happened in February, 2011 during the “snowpocalypse” blizzard). All the above cancellation policies will still apply even if it’s snowy, rainy, or hailing brimstone.”
Prices effective May 1, 2008; cancellation policy updated February 8, 2011.
